who we are

keeping it in the family

As a family business, each member of our landscaping and design team is deeply connected to, and driven by, the work we do. Our team is made up of Andrew, Tamsen, Rob and Sam, each of us bringing different skills and perspectives to our operation.

We care about what we do as much as we care about each other, and we feel that sense of unity and purpose is evident in our work.

Andrew

Andrew began his landscaping journey all the way back in 1993. Having studied art and technical drawing before beginning in the industry, he has developed a unique, signature design style that forms the basis of much of the work we do.

Fascinated by curvy design and the sense of space, mystery and illusion it can introduce to gardens, Andrew takes great pleasure in balancing ordered and chaotic elements and in contrasting the wild and organic with a more grounded, geometric sensibility.

Part of Andrew’s landscaping career was spent in the classroom, delivering City & Guilds accredited courses, where he taught hundreds of fellow landscapers cutting edge techniques from the forefront of landscaping innovation - and maybe even learnt a thing or two himself!

He enjoys time spent at home with the family, playing piano, listening to his favourite band ELO and, when he gets the chance, getting out the brushes and turning to a spot of oil painting.

Tamsen

Joining the company in 1999, bringing with her years of experience in buying, sales, customer service and office management, Tamsen has long been invaluable in her personal and caring approach towards customers and her dedication to ensuring they get just what they want, how they want it.

Always keeping a finger on the pulse, Tamsen keeps the company abreast of new developments in the landscaping sphere, from novel techniques to interesting new materials arriving on the scene.

She likes to work on her own garden and in the veg plot, always accompanied by her little feline friend, Woody. When out and about Tamsen loves to visit the coast, camera always at the ready.

Sam

With a creative enjoyment for the written word, but a keen eye for appreciating the visual arts, it was an obvious step for Sam to move into the world of garden design. Having grown up around the business, picking up the skills and the knowhow seemed almost natural to him.

With aspirations to master the craft under Andrew’s guidance, Sam also hopes to explore possibilities in creating pieces of ornamental garden-architecture to supplement his involvement - and maybe even incorporate aspects of his literary ideas into some of our designs.

After work he enjoys folk, rock and alternative music, reading the works of the Beat Generation writers and Charles Bukowski and tasting fine artisanal spirits.

Rob

Rob began his career in landscaping over 30 years ago and worked with Andrew in the early days before moving into Arboriculture, qualifing as a Tree Surgeon and spending over 25 years of his career as a climbing Arborist specialising in protected trees. He then went on to qualify as a Lantra Qualified Professional Tree Inspector carrying out Arboricultural Surveys on trees in relation to design, demolition and construction.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys the outdoor life and given the chance you will find him on various canals cruising along in his canoe or pitching up his tent and looking up to the night sky! He is currently learning to master the keyboard..

Rob is Andrew’s twin brother!
